Liberty London
At Clementine & Co we LOVE Liberty.
Famous world wide, Liberty of London's printed Cottons have a sense of nostalgia, yet somehow their beauty translates across generations & decades, defying trends & time.
At Clementine & Co Liberty has been part of our homes and lives since birth.
In 1970s London, Liberty fabric had a resurgence of popularity. Aimee's mother hand made her cot sheets out of their pretty floral cotton.
Later, having moved to Sydney as a toddler, she wore handmade Liberty smocked dresses, paired with the obligatory 1970's brown sandals and bowl haircut of the era.
Liberty of London was established by Arthur Liberty in 1875, as a purveyor of craftsmanship’. Liberty was very much part of the Art Nouveau style of the day, the store and it's curiosities dazzled London society .
Today Liberty is still an emporium, a London institution for innovative, beautifully crafted products and fabrics.
The Liberty design team produce seasonal ranges of beautiful fabric designs, inspired by and in keeping with Liberty tradition. Often archival floral and botanical prints, in delectable, rich and vivid colours.
The designs Clementine & Co products are made of are printed in Italy on their
'Tana' Cotton lawn ; a fine cotton weave with a high thread count. Which makes for a strong durable fabric and a unique silky smooth finish. This durability coupled with timeless designs, creates heirloom quality pieces . To be passed on from generation to generation, as has been tradition with textiles in families for centuries . At Clementine & Co we believe by seeking something beautifully crafted in a quality fabric that you love, will in turn continue this tradition.
